Osprey Stratos Backpack Tarn Medium
I had ordered a Teton Sports Canyon 2100 pack a short while ago for my first pack. After looking it over and feeling the fit I decided a little more research and a little more money spent would be a better way to go. I returned the Teton (Amazon's customer service is ridiculously amazing..seriously) and settled on the Osprey Stratos 34. Withing minutes of receiving it I had it strapped on my back. Wow! What a difference. I paid a little more for this but it was still very reasonable. The fit is amazing and it literally becomes part of you. The waist straps and overall fit is incredibly comfortable and balanced. I love the panel loading design and access from many different areas of the pack, including the pockets on the waist straps. This daypack is loaded with well thought out touches inside and out. It will make a perfect carry-on for flights. Heading to Arizona hiking in the Grand Canyon, Sedona Red Rock country and in the Tucson area shortly and will definitely do a follow up after a couple of weeks of use in AZ.

I bought this backpack for my dad who is very active, hikes a lot, travels around the world often.
BalasHapusHe reported that its the best backpack he ever had, lots of room, great airflow to his back, the design is great with pocket just in the right places, and it looks cool too.
A good buy, I think the price is fair too.
If anything has become a commodity, it is the humble daypack. But with dozens to choose from, even down here in far flung Tasmania, I couldn't go pass the features of this pack which is not available locally. So I waited anxiously for my order to be filled, hoping it would survive the long trip down under. I needn't have worried. Within 2 weeks my pack arrived in perfect condition. I am not disappointed.
BalasHapusFirst of all the workmanship is perfect. Every zipper is cleanly sewn and all the stitching is pretty much flawless. The materials all appear to be first rate to my inexpert eyes. I wasn't aware when I ordered that Osprey offer an unconditional lifetime guarantee, so I'm pleased to think this purchase could be a sound investment.
I've already had this pack out in the field at least 8 or 9 times and it has proven to be comfortable and well balanced. Everything seems to be in pretty much the right place for me. I love the way the compression and adjustment straps all fall within reach. I like to constantly fine-tune the load between waist and shoulders (there's lots of steep up-and-down, boulder hopping and often bit of scrambling here in Tas). This pack is easy to adjust on the run.
I'm delighted with the product and the value. And, kudos to Amazon for (once again) great service and best price.
I was in need of a new, more comfortable day pack with a bit more room. I had recently bought my son a very nice one from another company (which he really loves) and almost knee-jerked into buying one for myself. Decided to check around "just for kicks" and stumbled onto Osprey's Stratos 34. Was instantly intrigued by the mesh back-panel (which Osprey refers to as their AirSpeed suspension) that provides a remarkable breathing capability. Checked out a similar Osprey model at my favorite hang-out (they didn't have a Stratos) and was sold. Just back from hiking in AZ where I subjected the day pack to the desert heat and higher altitude snowfields - it did not disappoint in either element! This is the most comfortable day pack I have ever shouldered with plenty of room, tons of pockets and numerous load adjustments that keep your hiking pleasurable all day. The vented mesh back panel worked beautifully in the desert heat. I am 6'2, 200 lbs and the large fits perfectly. I haven't had a chance to have the hip belt heated and molded yet but it's very comfortable "right out of the box". I highly recommend this day pack and give it a strong 5-stars. Anyone considering this pack should check out all the features at the Osprey site here... [...]
BalasHapusOsprey makes a great backpack. Lots of adjustments and pockets. The AirSpeed feature keeps the pack off my back and I love the waist support, which is the main reason I looked for a different pack in the first place.
BalasHapusEven though the pack was listed as used, it came in the original plastic and was never used. Good price. Count me satisfied.
This is a great pack at a reasonable price. Many awesome features that other mfrs may have forgotten or ignored. Quite a step up from my old daypack that it replaces. Will get the Osprey hydration bladder to go with it next. Not a full-on complaint exactly, but something I would have preferred: the shoulder straps are not the same color fabric as the body of backpack. They are a lighter shade. Maybe this was the intended style choice, but kind of reminds me of a patchwork deal.
BalasHapusOh, word to the wise, make sure you check Osprey's sizing guide BEFORE you buy! A proper fit can make a world of difference.
This is by far the best day pack for scrambling, hiking, a walk about town. Perfect fit and extremely comfortable. With the bladder, there's not a ton of room, but still plenty of space for extra clothing (jacket, pants, shirt), camera, binoculars, small towel, flashlight etc. Outstanding price and quick delivery.
BalasHapusThe pack fits very well. It has plenty of space for a day trip or minimalist 2 or 3 day. The pack's front pockets are keen and they finally made a pack with it's own built in rain cover! The pack is sturdy and the suspension system is great. I would recommend this product to everyone.
