Worked like a charm!

NEEWER%C2%AE Bayonet Mount 18 105 55 200mm

NEEWER%C2%AE Bayonet Mount 18 105 55 200mm

This worked great on my Nikon AF-S DX 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED. Cheap fix for a lens that would be too expensive to send to the repair shop IMO. If it ever breaks again, I am just a few dollars away from a fix.

The repair itself was easy but you do need to be careful. Check youtube for how-to videos. Be careful though since this piece will fit in multiple lenses but the repair may be slightly different depending on if they are repairing the same lense or not. This took about 10 minutes and I was going slow. I used a small philips screwdriver (you will need a very small screwdriver) and a pair of needlenose pliers. Tweezers would have worked as well.

1)Remove the five screws around the bayonet. (Screws going towards the rear lens element) Pay attention to where they were, I had two different kinds.
2)Remove the ring that is around the rear lens element. (Not the bayonet piece itself but between that and the center lens)
3)Remove the three large screws parallel with the barrel of the lens.
4)Push the piece containing the metal contacts back and work the old bayonet off carefully. It will not come all the way off. You will need to remove one screw on the bottom side which is holding a small wire and contact assembly in place. This will also release a small spring and metal piston. (When replacing, the larger end of the piston goes in to the new bayonet)
5)Remove the larger (aperture) spring from the old bayonet.
6)Reverse these steps with the new bayonet piece.

Basically, if you pay attention to how you take it apart, you just put it back together the same way.

  2. I have an AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G ED kit lens (this is a non VR model that came with my D50) that had a broken mount for more than 3 yrs. This repair was fairly easy but you need to be careful since the screws are tiny! I cannot rate the overall quality of the mount yet since I've only had it installed for a few hours. Time will tell, however, this new mount if definitely better than the broken one!

  3. There is one little screw on the mount that connects to the ground pin that appears to be untapped, but if you just push hard and get the screw in there, it will make the thread and it holds. This was a perfect replacement mount for my Nikon 18-55 VR kit lens. There's instructions on Youtube you can get, but in general, put everything back in exactly the same way you're taking it off. Be careful not to drop any screws inside the lens cavity!

  4. Replaced the broken mount on my old 18-55 kit lens. This appears to be the same exact fit/quality as the original. With a small screw driver and some attention to detail, replacing the lens mount is pretty easy and only takes about 15 minutes. There are plenty of videos on youtube that show how to do it so check them out prior to digging in.

  5. I had looked into getting the lens mount repaired at a camera shop and the estimated cost was between $90 and $100. I found the part online for less than $5 and found it quite easy to replace the broken mount with the one that I ordered.

  6. Bought this because a friend dropped their D3000 and snapped the lens off. All three tabs were broken off the lens ring. It is a AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm 1:35-5.6G VR lens. If you pay attention as to how the old ring came apart (There are tutorials on Youtube too) it can be done with only a small jewelers phillips screwdriver. Be sure to save everything off the original ring as this is only the ring and you will need to screw every other part onto it first. In total it took me less than 10 minutes to change and I have never done this before.

  7. I watched an online video on how to replace this piece on my lens. Took about 30 minutes and salvaged $150 lens the camera repair shop told me wasn't worth repairing. In your face camera repairman! He actually had the audacity to offer me $10 for the broken lens so he could use it as spare parts. Now I'm convinced he would have repaired it and sold it as "refurbished"! I bought a second just in case it's ever discontinued!

  8. My camera fell off and ( I thought the lens broke) but it was actually the ring. So instead of paying 400 on a new one I just purchased the ring mount and changed it my self with the help of a tutorial video from YouTube . Lens is working super and saved a lot of money.

Seller is super fast with great wrapping 10/10 service
