QLook Solid Wayfarer Mirror Sunglasses

QLook Solid Wayfarer Mirror Sunglasses

I was looking at getting either this lens or the Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens. The 50mm lens was only $135, but doesn't autofocus on the D40 which is my camera. I know I am looking to upgrade to the D90 soon, so that wasn't as much of an issue, but something to consider as I purchased a prime lens. Of course this 35mm lens does autofocus on the D40, so that was one point in it's favor.

Truly my main reason for purchasing this lens was to use in low light, indoors, typically at home during family functions. The photos are sharp! I even had all the lights turned off in the basement and took photos of my son, and WOW,it gave nice, natural tones to his skin and his eyes are amazing in the photos. I have to get closer to my subject(s) than with the 50mm, but when you are in a room that is crowded and you are trying to get a photo with everyone in it, you don't have to back up very far. With the 50mm, you need much more room to backup to get the same shot including all the subjects. My sisters kitchen is small. My little neice was about to blow out the candles, and I got not only her, but mom and dad in the photo as well. I would not have enough room to backup and get the same shot with the 50mm lens.

Being able to take photos in low light (indoors) without a flash is very handy, and paticuallary when you are in a situation where flashes aren't allowed. (I have been at several museums, historical homes during a tour, and even a 50th anniversary ceremony at a church were photos were ok, but no flash allowed). The last wedding I was at, everyone was taking photos and the photographer said that was ok while she was shooting, but no flashes please because it intereferred with her shots. Everyone had to stop taking photos, because they needed their flashes to get a decent shot. How nice to be the one able to continue to shoot photos and not have to put my camera away. I didn't need a flash.

I also had to consider price. I got this lens for $199 with free shipping. I ordered this and waited a little over 4 weeks to recieve it. If you are looking at this lens, and order DIRECTLY from Amazon, the price is $199. It will say "not in, stock order now and we will deliver as soon as available". I didn't really want to wait, especially knowing I could order the 50mm that day, and get it in a week, but I knew if I was to choose between the 2 lenses, I wanted this one. I don't think it is justified paying the $300+ price just to get the one in stock. My opinion, order the one listed at $199, and be willing to wait, like I said, mine arrived about 4 weeks after ordering it.

Pros: Absolutely sharp photos in low light.
Price, if you are willing to wait, totally worth every penny.
Fast and light lens.
You can shoot indoors with low light without a flash.

Cons: Only one I can think of is waiting a full month to recieve.
But I would do it again in a heartbeat for a fantastic lens.

Great for low light, great focal length for DX, and autofocus will also work with D40, D40x, D60, and D5000 cameras

Better then the best reviews...

Rokinon FE14M C Ultra Canon Black

Rokinon FE14M C Ultra Canon Black

I bought this lens about a month ago to be able to use with my canon Xsi and also D5. This lens performs very well with Xsi giving about 22.4 mm equivalent. The main reason why I bought this lens is the capability of using F2.8 considering that most of the Canon lenses with this F stop and focal length are really expensive (at least 3 times). I used the lens for wide field astrophotography, land escapes and northern lights. The lens is fully manual so focus and aperture have to be set by hand; however, it can be still used with AV function of the camera.
Pros
Aperture ring sets very easily
Optics are quite good, almost no flare when taken in front of the sun. E.g. Sunset or sunrise, moon set or moon rise
Color is exceptionally good
Distortion at F 2.8 is not bad and easy to correct using Photoshop if you are taking picture of buildings.
No vignetting when used with Xsi
So far I have not notice to much distortion at the corners Compared with my expensive L series lenses (F4). The distortion at the corners is surprisingly less
Chromatic aberration seems to be well controlled. Actually, It seem very similar to canon L series.

Cons
Still significant vignetting when used with canon 5D. However, not worse than that for the 17-40 mm L F4 canon.
It is hard to focus. Basically in Xsi, I can use the live view at 10X to get a sharp focus. The lens has focus measurements but they are not well calibrated so you need to find your own. To make your focus easy, you need to do it at maximum aperture to be able to get enough light then go to your desired aperture according to the deep of field you would like to achieve.
You can't have a filter on top of the lens, so you need to be extra careful. However, I am not sure if this is a con, since night photography (including northern light) is all done without filter so this prevents me from forgetting taking the filter off.

In conclusion
This manual lens has very good optics. All very well corrected and not that different form the premium once or at least the canons F4 (17-40mm and 24-110 mm). It is one rare combination of quality and price because usually you get what you pay. Perhaps the fact that the lens is all manual makes it significant cheaper.

What about UTG?

Samsung compact 20 50mm Series Cameras

Samsung compact 20 50mm Series Cameras

I saw this item on CNET top ten phone case reviews. It works just like I thought it would. It's like having a big rubber tire wrapped around your phone! The inner hard shell protects the phone from being bent and the outer rubber wrap makes it very easy to grip and hold on to as well as a great protective wrap if you were to drop your expensive phone. The raised hard edge around the screen also allows you to lay the phone face down without scratching the screen and making it easier to hear the ringer/alerts. The only down side is that the slightly raised outer edge that wraps around the screen can make it a little difficult to reach some of the screen buttons/controls but that is a small price to pay for such a good protective case. I highly recommend this case, I love it!!

good product

Bluecell Drawstring Neoprene Olympus Panasonic

Bluecell Drawstring Neoprene Olympus Panasonic

I would like to start by saying that GOJA LLC is a top notch vendor that went out of their way to answer all of our questions through both email and telephone conversation to make sure we knew exactly what we were buying. The customer service we received was EXCELLENT! The day after we place the order we received an email that our order had shipped. Our purchase was packaged very well insuring the contents would not be damaged!!

The Professional Lens Accessory Kit we purchased is a top of the line quality product. Both the wide angle and telephoto lens, and the monopod are all Vivitar and all come with their own protective cases. All of the remaining accessories are made of solid top of the line components, not cheap knock-offs. All lens and filters have a very tight and secure fit. The tulip flower lens hood is better than the one that came with our Nikon D7000. There are also wallet type cases for all the filters.

I guess the bottom line is you don't have to worry about this not being a great product for the money. We are very happy with it!!

Now, let the fun begin!!
