Tamrac M A S Extra Large Black
This or the CaseLogic small are my favorite for non super heavy duty jobs:
Very well designed: Not as rigid as Lowepro, easier to carry on your belt - not getting in your way in tight places (crowd, bushwalking) and stays close to your body w/o bouncing (good for long walks and short runs) due to a good balance and wide and rather rigid "belt loop" (can see in it better the pic of the LARGE case). The zipper is easy to open with one hand w/o looking, not too tight as Lowepro, not too loose. The lid goes back w/o any additional efforts and closes the case almost like spring loaded. In Lowepro you have to pull it over. If you are not jumping or running really hard, you can move around with the unzipped case for quick lens change. The walls are a bit flexible, you can just drop the lens in or pull it out effortlessly.
Also check out extremely well designed CaseLogic small lens case (saw it at wmart). The construction is different from the large seen here and fits my bill. The foam is slightly thicker but still flexible enough, well balanced with "spring loaded" lid. Very good belt loop + all the attachments one can imagine: 2 smaller belt loops on both sides, a Velcro attachment for a vertical harness (backpack, camera bag), 2 small loops for attachment of a 3rd party shoulder strap and a carrying handle on the bottom + an elastic cord around (was able to carry a T-shirt tucked into it for 5 miles of trail). The lid has a mesh pocket inside (great for lens caps) and it has an additional pad/spacer that can be used for restricting movement of shorter lenses or as a separator for 2 short lenses. The bottom foam pad is sewn to the bottom leaving a groove between it and the walls. If you drop in a lens with the attached hood, the hood gets into the groove and keeps the lens very steady. I could fit Pentax DA 18-135mm with the the extra foampad and reversed hood (OK for carrying but too tight for quick change, perfect fit w/o the hood) or Pentax FA 35mm f2 + 70mm f2.4 separated by the pad with some space left. The length is about the came as the Tamrac but it is a bit narrower inside.
